“This little book about the Cotswolds is of no particular part or subject – a cornucopia of stories about places, people and its history came from an idea to avoid capturing the well known and creating ‘just another guide book’. The Cotswolds are special, not just for those who live there or for the visitor, but as part of our cultural history. Attempting to capture it comprehensively would be a daunting task, if not impossible and I have deliberately created this book without that intention.
This book is a completely different animal to the one first conceived, it’s now a product of the warmth and enthusiasm of those who have contributed to the project. To all those who have featured in and those who have worked on the book I warmly thank. If people remark that this is a book one can pick up at odd times or keep by a bedside that would be very satisfying. If there is something of interest on any given page, that catches the eye and at the same time bring people to love the Cotswolds, its villages and artisans then I have achieved all I have set out to do.”
